‘A PURE PSYCHOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE’: Jaymes White ready to scare Toronto with fall séance

Call Jaymes White whatever you want.

A mentalist, a mind reader, or a master of manipulation.

But one thing’s for sure, White is ready to scare his next victims during his upcoming Victorian séance in Toronto.

The fright-friendly guy says he’s looking forward to another year of spine-tingling fun, this time at the “haunted” George Brown Mansion from Sept. 13 through Nov. 30.

As Canada’s most successful séance, ticketholders are expected to engage in a “pure psychological experience” that requires no silly jump scares, something common with most haunted tours.

But consider yourself warned: White says the three-year sold-out séance is not for children or for the faint of heart.

“I have received hundreds of messages of people saying they had to sleep with the lights on for a week or could not sleep for a few days,” he recalled. “I always feel proud when I hear that.”

So why does he do it?

From an early start, White was curious about the unseen world, unlike most kids who tend to avoid the dark side.

“I have always been interested in the paranormal ever since I was a child,” said White. “I actually have a Ouija board collection of over 100 Ouija boards from around the world.”

His fascination with the unexplained is deeply rooted in his studies on psychology, specifically learning about human behaviours combined with his own intuition.

“I can tell when someone is lying to me, and I train a lot of people in that area,” he explained. “The most important thing you are looking for is the break of pattern. If you can find a break of pattern, a lot of times they are lying.”

Aside from trying to talk to spirits, he remains active in teaching memory studies to university students.

White claims he can “give someone a better than photographic memory in around three months with 10 minutes a day.”

And just like any good crime show sidekick, he uses his talents to train law enforcement, detectives and others alike on observation, memory and handwriting analysis.

Having a “big skeptic side” helps him become a good host and this year he’s expecting nothing short of a thrill.

Fans went on Twitter to share their experience from past séances hosted by White.

“Honestly, it is something you will remember for a long time,” said White. “It really can mess with your mind and question reality.”
